More Maintenance Tips for Your Exhaust Hood
Have you had a chance to check out our previous blog yet? If you have, then you already know that regular maintenance is the best way to keep your restaurant hood working like new for as long as possible. To recap, we talked about the importance of cleaning your exhaust fan, cleaning out the filters and staying on top of the grease buildup in the vents. However, these aren’t the only things to watch out for when it comes to exhaust hood maintenance. The following is a list of the last few things that you should do to properly maintain your commercial vent hood:
- Watch out for changes in motor fan speed- In most cases and for most models, the motor will require little to no maintenance, however some of the bearings can become stiff over time due to consistent exposure to grease, humidity and heat, so you may have to replace them every once in a while. The blower wheel can also become dirty and greasy, and it could cause the fan to start to slow down or even vibrate in some cases. Clean the fan motor and the blower –if the fan is still vibrating or working slowly, the fan motor will need to be replaced.
- Get prompt repairs- When something stops working as it should, don’t just ignore it! Get it repaired promptly to stop the problem in its tracks. You should also read your model’s manual, so that you can be aware of any common problems associated with it. This will help you to know exactly what to watch out for and how to fix it if it comes up.
